1. Entering and exiting the elevator
When the elevator floor and car doors are opened, passengers should get off first and then get on. Do not push each other. After the floor door is fully opened, before entering the car, make sure that the floor of the elevator car and the floor of the floor are on the same level to avoid tripping. When arriving at the destination floor, when the car stops and the door is fully opened, confirm that the floor of the car and the floor are on the same level, and then exit the car.
When entering or exiting the elevator car, the following matters should also be noted: It is prohibited to rush into or out of the elevator car when the door is closing; do not hold the door panel with your hand; do not keep your hand placed between the elevator door and the floor door, or between the door and the door frame for a long time, to avoid getting your hand caught; be careful to prevent walking sticks and high-heeled shoes with pointed tips from getting stuck in the grooves of the floor threshold or the gaps between them, to avoid being pinched; when the elevator is overloaded, there will be audible and visual alarms and the elevator cannot close the door or start moving. At this time, the passengers who enter later should actively exit the elevator car, wait for the next elevator, and wait until the elevator door is completely closed and starts moving before pressing the call button. Overloaded elevators will not respond to calls from other floors until some passengers leave the elevator. This is not a malfunction, but a design to ensure the safety of the elevator and improve its operational efficiency.
2. Open/close the elevator doors
Most of the elevators used daily are in automatic mode. The elevator floors and car doors will automatically close after the time set by the control system. Alternatively, the closing button “>|<” on the car control panel can be pressed to make the floors and car doors close immediately, achieving early closing. The elevator starts moving after the floors and car doors are closed. When the elevator reaches the destination floor, the floors and car doors will automatically open.
If you need to delay the closing of elevator floors or car doors, you can hold down the door-opening button "<|>" on the elevator car control panel. It is strictly prohibited to use objects such as boxes or to block the closing of floors or car doors with your body, especially do not stand across between the floor station and the elevator car to block the floors or car doors, to avoid causing personal injury.
When the elevator floor and car doors are closing, directly blocking them with your hands or feet is extremely dangerous. If you need to stop the elevator from closing, passengers at the floor station can press the external call button in the direction of the elevator's movement in the waiting hall; passengers inside the car can press the opening button "<|>" and the elevator floor and car doors will reopen. However, blocking the doors directly with your hands or feet, although the floors and car doors usually reopen automatically under the action of safety protection devices (light curtains or safety touch plates), in the blind area of the door system detection or when the door system malfunctions, the elevator may cause harm to the human body.
3. Selecting the floor inside the car
Inside the elevator car, there are control panels indicating each floor. Passengers entering the car can press the button corresponding to the desired floor. The indicator light of the selected button will light up, indicating that the selected floor has been registered by the elevator control system. If the button for the destination floor that the passenger wants to go to has already been lit, do not select again or press the buttons for floors that are not intended to go to. For elevators with anti-disturbance function for light loads, when there are few passengers in the elevator car, the load in the car is lower than the set value of the elevator control system, and the passenger selects many destination floors (the value can be adjusted in the control system), the elevator control system will cancel all selection instructions. Passengers need to press the destination floor button again. This situation is not considered an elevator malfunction.
Furthermore, some elevators have a function to cancel incorrect instructions. If you select the wrong floor number while in the elevator car, by repeatedly pressing the button for that floor several times (some elevators require long pressing), the indicator light for that floor will go off, indicating that the floor selection has been cancelled.
4. Take the elevator
After entering the elevator car, passengers should stand inside the car. Do not hold onto or lean against the safety touch plate (or light curtain) to avoid affecting the closing of the floor and elevator doors. Also, do not stand too close to the elevator door, especially when passengers are wearing loose or dragging clothing (such as long dresses, formal gowns, etc.). Be careful to avoid having your clothing caught by the floor or elevator door during the operation, which could cause personal injury.
When the elevator car arrives at the station, the elevator floors and car doors automatically open. The number of the floor is displayed on the elevator control panel, and the corresponding floor button indicator lights will go out. For barrier-free elevators, there will also be a voice prompt to inform passengers of the stop position of the elevator car.
